If you are visiting gamescom 2025, you will have the chance to try the game for the first time at astragon’s booth in Hall 6 from August 20 to 24. For those following from home, you can watch the Seafarer: The Ship Sim showcase livestream on August 21 at 7 PM CEST / 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT.
In Seafarer: The Ship Sim, you will take on different maritime careers, complete missions for various factions, and explore a vast open world. You will be able to operate a range of vessels, from agile tugboats to giant cargo ships, and tackle tasks such as maintenance, firefighting, and cargo recovery. The game will offer both a narrative Story Mode and a more flexible Quick Play option.
You can expect detailed ship models and dynamic environmental effects, powered by Unreal Engine 5 and enhanced by NVIDIA WaveWorks 2.0 for realistic ocean and wave simulations.
The Early Access launch date represents a short delay from the previously targeted summer 2025 release, giving the developers more time to polish the experience before you head out to sea.
